Hello everyone!

I am Melanie Anne Kennedy, Science teacher at Tanner High. I am currently teaching Biology and STEM elective, and am so excited to share all of the wonders of Science with my students!

I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and raised in the central town of Cayey. I went to Miguel Melendez Muñoz High School, and then on to the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey, where I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. After Moving to Alabama, starting my family and taking care of my beautiful son Jimmy, who has Pitt-Hopkins Syndrome, an extremely rare type of Autism, I went back to college and got my Masters Degree in Secondary Education at Grand Canyon University in Arizona. I am licensed to teach General Sciences, Biology, and am also a Bilingual specialist (Spanish), certified as a WIDA ELL Scanner and educator.

I am very interested in all things science, but I have to admit, I'm a geek as well, and have been a gamer for years. I love everything Legend of Zelda, Harry Potter, and World of Warcraft. I love classic horror movies (Freddie Krueger is my hero!) and am slightly in love with all things chocolate.

Please feel free to contact me anytime at: melanie.kennedy@lcsk12.org.
